Video recap of Booker T's win or be traded situation and the main event from last week. Opening montage. Tonight's hosts: JR and 'The King.'
Rob Van Dam is in the ring to start the show. JR and King note that he looks like he's ready for a fight and that they do know that he's scheduled for a match tonight, but they have no clue who it's against.

Eric Bischoff then comes on the Titan Tron and tells Rob that he is in the same boat as Booker T. Only he has to win or he'll be fired! And his opponent WILL beat him.
Rob Van Dam def Chris Jericho via Pinfall (Five Star Frog Splash)
RVD gets to keep his job after winning the match. And he does so in such a fashion that Eric Bischoff makes him the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship following Backlash. While RVD celebrates this great fortune, Jericho knocks him down and slaps on the Walls of Jericho and holds it until RVD passes out.

In the meantime, backstage, Christian walks up to wish Matt hardy luck in his match against Edge for the Intercontinental Title. He also tells Matt that he wants the first title shot after Backlash should he win. Matt tells him that he'll 'think about it.'
Batista def Bubba Ray Dudley via Pinfall (DAVEbomb)
Batista dominates Bubba through the whole match. Pure squash material here. During the Match JR and King note that on Heat the night before, Ric Flair took on D-Von Dudley in the first match of the set. If both Flair and Batista could win, then they would get a shot at the Tag Titles at Backlash. Flair held his end by making D-Von tap and with Batista winning the match tonight, Evolution goes on to Backlash to challenge for the World Tag Team Titles.
Edge def Matt Hardy v1 via Pinfall (Edge-ucution) to retain the Intercontinental Championship
Edge wins a wild one as both men pull out all the stops. After all is said an done, Edge retains his Intercontinental Championship. Randy Orton comes down after the match is over and decimates Edge with three RKOs and stands over Edge's prone, bleeding body holding the IC title belt up as though he had just won it.
Victoria def Trish Stratus via Pinfall (Widow's Peak)
Victoria in a women's romp gives Trish a chance to take the title from her prior to Backlash, but wins handily. The camera cuts to the back after the match to find RVD wishing Booker T the best of luck. Bischoff walks up to the duo and tells them that Booker WILL need luck on his side indeed. Cause his match is next. He then shoos Booker T off to the ring. RVD asks what Bischoff meant, and Eric tells him. . .Booker T wants to prove he's main event material, so he'll have a chance at least. When he faces Chris Benoit next!
Chris Benoit def Booker T via Submission (Crippler Crossface)
As Benoit leaves the ring and heads to the back, Eric Bischoff comes strolling out to the top of the stage. He informs Booker T that he is now off the RAW roster and will have to leave. Booker T tells him to come down and be a man and tell him to his face. Bischoff does and gets a Book-End for doing so. Booker T leaves to cheers from the crowd.
Smack Down! Rebound: Recap of Eddie Guerrero's WWE Championship win from the 4-8-04 Smack Down!
Vince McMahon appear via a taped promo to remind us that he is going to be at Backlash to make a major announcement regarding NITRO. And it WILL rock the foundation of wrestling as we know it. He'll also announce who the new GM of NITRO will be and more at Backlash.

JR and King wonder what this will hold in store and how it will change RAW. They preview the tag match to come and note that it will be commercial free as they are aout to take their last commercial break.
Evolution (Triple H/Ric Flair var) def Shawn Michaels & Mick Foley via Pinfall (Pedigree on Foley)
Back from the break and Mick comes out, followed by Shawn and then all of Evolution. Flair starts with Foley. Big pops for everyone involved in the match and everything up until Foley gets dumped to the outside and beaten on by Batista. Shortly after that HBK gets dumped and double teamed by Batista and Orton. Everything breaks down and while Flair, Batista, and Orton beat on HBK, Triple H hits a Pedigree on Foley to get the pinfall. The show closes with a quick rundown of the card for Backlash.
