Smack Down! 4-8-04
Recap of the first rounds of the United States Championship #1 Contedner's Tournament and the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.

Opening Montage (Now with Hurri-powers!)
Your hosts: Michael Cole & Tazz
Jamie Noble def Kidman via Pinfall (Tiger Driver 2K4) to advance in Cruiserweight Tourney.
Nothing fancy in the match. A lot of chain wrestling that eventually led to a the Tiger Driver 2K4 by Noble. After the match however he goes over to the announce table to tell Cole and Tazz that it will be him against Mysterio in the next round of the tourney. And since he's now made it to the semi-finals, there is no way he can lose!

Cut to the back to find Kurt Angle in Shane McMahon's office speaking with someone off camera. He is complaining that he has to defend the WWE Title tonight against a man he has defeated several times and should not have been given a title shot. He then goes on to note that this will definitely be the last time they fight for the title as he has added a no rematch of any kind clause to the contract thanks to the advace of the man he is talking to. But the face of his companion in Shane's office still remains unseen.
Sean O'Haire def Hardcore Holly via Pinfall (Widowmaker) to advance in the US Title Contender's Tournament.
Sean O'Harie dominates Hardcore completely during the match finally ending it with the Widowmaker. Right after the match is over however, the lights go out.

**GONG**

And the Smack Down! Titan Tron shows images of O'Haire taking out the Undertaker from a few weeks before. Taker's Music begins over a brief fade of the image to a text graphic stating that, 'Dead men never forget...' The image then fades in the background to show Taker giving O'Haire the Tombstone on a stack of tables later that same night. With new text over the still photo saying, '...Or forgive!'
Billy Gunn & John Bradshaw def The FBI (Chuck Palumbo & Johnny Stamboli) via Pinfall (Fame-Asser on Stamboli)
Cole wonders from the start why Bradshaw is not teaming with Farooq. Tazz notes that Ron 'Farooq' Simmons is currently in the hospital from the attack he suffered at the hands of Bradshaw on Smack Down! a few weeks ago. He is recovering from what appeared to be a torn rotator cuff. But there is no certainty to if he can wrestle again.
John Cena def Matt Morgan via Pinfall (F-U) to advance in the US Title Contender's Tourney
Cena came out to the ring first and gave his usual rap to get the crowd behind him. Then Morgan came out and took up a spot in the corner to loosen up for a moment when The Big Show came out! As Show made his way down to ringside to watch the match and try to get inside Cena's head, he stopped to wish Morgan luck. While Morgan was talking with Show, Cena snuck up behind him and when Morgan turned around hit the F-U to get the victory in a match that lasted all of 15 seconds from the opening bell to the pinfall. Show looks up just after he sits down at the announce table and is furious to see Cena being announced as the winner already.

Commercials take us into a recap of the Angle/Guerrero fued. Complete with a Tale of the Tape on the two.
The Hurricane def Nunzio via Pinfall (Tropical Depression) to advance in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.
Nunzio tries repeatedly to get Hurricane set up for a Sicilian Spike, but to no avail as the Hurricane reverses a backslide attempt into the Tropical Depression for the win.

Angle is shown in the back just prior to the commercial break saying that having signed his new contract is great and he can't wait to get out there and do what he loves the most. . .Wrestle.
Eddie Guerrero def Kurt Angle via Pinfall (Frog Splash) To win the WWE Championship
Eddie comes out to the ring first in a Hummer Low-Rider! As Kurt Angle's music starts to play we see him leaving Shane's office and get a glimpse of Paul Heyman sitting in Shane's office with a smile on his face! Cole and Tazz wonder throughout the match why Heyman would have been there, and if he had been the only one there all along. The match continues to go back and forth with each man hitting many of their signature moves. Eddie even breaks out the Lasso From El Paso to try to get the win, but Angle won't tap out. Finally Eddie Blocks a Kurt Angle pop-up Superplex to hit the Frog Splash and become the NEW WWE Champion.
