Opening Montage (Old style WCW Nitro lead and end with new style WWE superstar shots in between)

YOUR hosts: Jonathan Coachman (Coach), Al Snow (The Snowman), and Bill DeMott
Paul Heyman comes out to welcome everyone to the first ever ECW Nitro on Spike TV! He promises that Paul Heyman's ECW Nitro will be a show that puts RAW and Smack Down! to shame. But first he would like to introduce us to the eight men who will compete tonight in a pair of Fatal Four Way elimination matches to crown the first ECW Champion. Kurt Angle's music starts and the eight men all come out to their music individually. The eight men turn out to be Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Rene Dupree, Lance Storm, The Undertaker, Mark Jindrak, Scott Steiner, and Rhyno. Heyman then goes on to introduce the six men who would compete in a six pack challenge match for the ECW Television title to be Steven Richards, Matt Hardy v1, Shelton Benjamin, Chuck Palumbo, A-Train, and Rey Mysterio. But first he has the first ever match for Nitro!
The Dudley Boyz def The Basham Brothers via Pinfall (3-D to Danny)
The first Nitro match is a tag team affair that sees lots of general lawlessness in the execution. Bill DeMott notes that if this is the tone setter for the whole show, then we will be in for a real wild ride. Snowman, and Coach call as much of the action as they can as it is a very fast paced run, with the Bashams taking control for seconds at a time until one or both Dudleyz find a way to get it back. The Dudleyz do get wood, and send Doug through it to get Danny alone in the ring for the 3-D.

After the match, the camera cuts to the back where we see a joyous Paul Heyman celebrating a dynamic start to Nitro and Torrie Wilson greets him and thanks him for giving her a chance to shine on Saturday nights with all of the technically sound women that Heyman has brought in. Heyman thinks this is a nothing more than a bit of ass-kissing and books Torrie v Gail Kim for the next match!
Gail Kim def Torrie Wilson via Pinfall (Sai-yan Stunner)
Gail Kim runs to the ring while her music plays to attack Torrie from behind. Afterwards, Torrie tries to take a powder and get out of there. Heyman comes to the top of the ramp and informs Torrie, that pinfalls and submissions may only count in the ring, but there are no countouts on Nitro and as for Disqualifications, they won't apply in this match. Because if there is one thing that Paul Heymen hates, it's an ass-kisser! With that Gail Kim comes out and drags Torrie Wilson back to the ring by the hair. After several shots to the back of the neck, Gail Kim sets Torrie up in the corner and unleashes with the Sai-yan Stunner for the pinfall.*
Matt Hardy v1 def Steven Richards, A-Train, Shelton Benjamin, Chuck Palumbo, and Rey Mysterio to become the first ECW Television Champion
All six men in the ring to start out. Shelton Benjamin and Chuck Palumbo battle each other to the outside, while Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio square off. Steven Richards is eliminated first and becomes the #5 man on the totem for the Television title when A-Train hits the Derailer on him for a pinfall. As A-Train is getting ready to find someone else to take on Shelton Benjamin comes off the top rope to drop A-Train with a missle dropkick. Matt Hardy takes advantage and hits two Twist of Fates on the big man followed by Rey Mysterio Dropping the Dime to score the pinfall for Shelton Benjamin over A-Train. A-Train becomes #4 in the order of importance. Shelton then turns around after getting the pinfall to walk right into a mafia kick from Palumbo while Rey and Matt battle on the floor. Palumbo pins Shelton and makes Shelton #3 in the order. Matt Hardy gets the better of Rey on the floor and goes in to try his hand with Palumbo, to very little avail. Rey makes his way back into the ring and tries to help Matt take out Palumbo, but Palumbo drops them both with a double clothesline. As he is celebrating, Matt Hardy hits him from behind and knocks him out of the ring. Rey does a springboard plancha over the top, and while both he and Palumbo work their way to their feet, Matt Hardy comes throught the ropes with a suicide dive that catches Palumbo, but not Rey. Mysterio rolls Palumbo into the ring and gets the West Coast Pop to eliminate Palumbo. Palumbo becomes the #2 contender for the TV Title. The match is down to Rey and Matt. Matt sneaks in while Rey is celebrating the pinfall on Palumbo to hit Rey with the Side Effect. Two count leads to some frustration for Matt. Rey gains control after a missed charge to the corner by Matt. As Rey goes for the Rube Goldberg Bulldog, Matt drops him with a facebuster and then hits the Twist of Fate for the pinfall to become the first ECW Television Champion. Rey is named the Number One contender for the Television Title with a match set up for next week between the two with the title on the line.
Return from commercials with Heyman in the ring to award the ECW Television Championship Belt to Matt Hardy. Chavo Guerrero comes out and states that it is a violation of his contract that he did not get a chance to compete for a title on the first episode of NITRO and since Heyman is in breach of contract, Chavo will go ahead and re-sign with Smack Down! and go win back his Cruiserweight Championship. Heyman reminds Chavo that the show is not over yet, and if he wants a title shot, then he's sure that Matt Hardy v1 will be happy to accomodate right now. Matt looks a little shocked at that, but agrees to the match and Chavo comes down to take advantage of a tired Matt Hardy.
Matt Hardy v1 def Chavo Guerrero via Pifall (Twist of Fate) to retain the ECW Television Title
Chavo attacked very quickly once the bell rang, hoping to score a quick pinfall and get the win over Matt Hardy, but Matt fought out of the pinning combination and sent Chavo off the ropes right into a running Side Effect. Matt picked Chavo up and delivered the Twist of Fate for the pinfall and successful defense.
RAW Rebound: Recap of Edge and Benoit winning the Tag Team Titles.
Kurt Angle def Lance Storm, Scott Steiner, and The Undertaker in a Fatal Four Way to advance to the ECW Nitro Championship Match
Taker and Steiner square off on one side of the ring while Angle and Storm fight over submission holds. Steiner is eliminated when Taker hits a chokeslam. Taker begins to pound on both Angle and Storm who work together and put Taker in the Canadian Maple Leaf and the Angle Lock at the same time, making Taker tap out. Storm goes after Agnel who launches and Angle slam out of nowhere to get the pinfall.
Smack Down! Rebound: Recap of The Hurricane's Cruiserweight Championship win over Rey Mysterio and the Semi-finals of the US Title Tournament.
Rob Van Dam def Rhyno, Rene Dupree, and Mark Jindrak in a Fatal Four Way to advance to the ECW Nitro Championship Match
RVD layed low in the early part as Rhyno removed Jindrak with the Gore. As he went to Gore Dupree, Rhyno was met with an RVD dropkick to the face. Dupree picked up the quick pinfall and then pushed hard to keep up with Van Dam who began to run wild on Dupree with various kicks and forearms. Dupree got a chair and went to hit Van Dam with it but missed. As he brought the chair up to try it again, RVD hit the Van Daminator on Dupree and set him up for a Van Terminator. Heyman, who had been at ringside all along, warned RVD that if he did go for it, he would be disqualified. RVD backed off, but was able to lay Dupree out with a standing enzugiri leading to the five star frog splash for the win.
Kurt Angle def Rob Van Dam to become the first ECW Nitro Champion
Barnbuster of a match that saw the other six men who were part of the four way matches interefere on the behalf of either Angle or RVD based on who they thought they could beat. Eventually Paul Heyman had them all removed from ringside one by one and the match settled down into a groove with RVD and Angle trading two counts until Angle locked on the Angle Lock and forced RVD to tap out.
